Your cover is yours exclusively and will not be resold to any other author, nor may it be resold by you without express prior permission.
Copyright of the artwork is not transferred to you upon purchase. It remains with Raquel Lyon, who will retain the right to display the design in her portfolio and use it for promotional purposes.
Artwork is sold with a lifetime non-transferable, standard licence to use it for the purpose of marketing your product only, and is licenced for unlimited digital impressions and up to 250,000 print copies per individual cover or series that contains the same stock elements. If you think you will exceed this amount, please contact Raquel to discuss purchasing an extended licence.
Cover art is compiled by manipulating stock assets and then overpainting. Assets often include non-exclusive files, therefore no guarantees can be given that any models/elements will not appear on any other covers, either by Raquel Lyon or other artists.
Copyright for all asset files remains with the original owner, and the licence obtained for their use lies solely with their purchaser, therefore no original stock photos will be provided along with the cover sale, and neither will a layered PSD of the artwork. Links to readily available assets will be provided if asked for, but you must purchase your own licence if you wish to use them separate from the cover art. Where stock has been provided by you for the purpose of creating cover art, you must ensure that you have obtained the correct rights and permissions for its use, and provide proof thereof. And you agree that Raquel Lyon and Crooked Sixpence will not be held legally or financially accountable should any infringement action arise from the use of any materials you have provided.
You may use the cover art in part, or in full with the typography, to create any promotional, web-based advertisements for your book. Any typography-free versions we may have agreed upon may not be displayed in full without other promotional elements placed over the top. Artwork must not be modified, resold, repurposed, or used to make promotional items for resale, e.g. bookmarks, mugs, notebooks, T-shirts, without first gaining permission. (Certain stock files may require the additional purchase of an extended licence from the stock provider.)
Please ensure to request your cover well in advance of its requirement. Turnaround times for a project’s completion can be 5-15 working days (excluding major holidays, illness and emergencies) dependent upon complexity. Delays in communication may extend this timeline, and Raquel and Crooked Sixpence will not be held liable for any losses or fees incurred by you, where a reasonable timescale for completion has not been considered and accounted for.
You are responsible for proofing the final artwork, including but not limited to typos and text placement. Mistakes discovered after the delivery of the final file will be subject to an additional charge for any corrections.
Credit for the artwork, e.g. Cover art by Raquel Lyon at Crooked Sixpence Book Covers, is required via a mention on the copyright page of the book, or on the back cover of any physical version. Please include a link to this website where possible.
Prices are as stated on the relevant pages of this site and are subject to change at any time.
Payments are processed via PayPal invoice. Final full resolution files will not be delivered until your payment has been processed.
All sales are final. No refunds will be given on premade or custom covers after delivery of the final files.
Premade covers are sold on a first come, first served basis and require full payment upon purchase.
New custom clients will be required to make a £30 reservation deposit upon booking their slot. Refunds will only be supplied for cancellations up to 72 hours prior to work commencing.
Cancellations made by you after that time, or during the project process will result in a forfeit of that fee. In the rare occurrence that your project needs to be cancelled by us, either before commencement or upon encountering unresolvable creative differences, a full refund will be issued. All cancellation notices must be instructed in writing via email.
The deposit amount will be deducted from the final invoice, with the balance required after approval of the final design.
All balances are due in full upon request. Failure to pay the balance within 30 days of the invoice date will result in a cancellation of the current and any future projects.
Any personal information you provide will be treated as confidential. It will not be shared with any third party and will be used solely for the purposes of the designer/client relationship.
By making a purchase of services or artwork from this site, you agree to abide by and accept the terms and conditions set out here, which we reserve the right to amend or revise at any time and without notice. You also agree that Raquel Lyon and Crooked Sixpence will not be held legally or financially liable for any problems, losses, fees or expenses incurred by you as a result of your use of our website, services or artwork.
